In photograph, a double exposure is a combination of two exposures in one image to produce an expressive result. Initially, this is a technique in which the camera shutter is opened more than once to expose the film multiple times, usually to different images. Gjon Mili, an Albanian photographer was the inspiration for many photographers who became interested in double exposure after him. Double exposure photography has come a long way over the years. What began as a “spirit photography” is now extremely commonplace. Now Adobe Photoshop makes it extremely easy to layer images on top of each other with a couple clicks of the mouse. So there, Double exposure in Photoshop is a technique that has to do with blending two images together. Double exposure is done by using the help of layer blending and clipping masks options in Adobe Photoshop. I was tasked with creating a double exposure poster talking about health, family or social life. I chose to work with social life. Beneath is the image I made using the double exposure technique.
One image is a picture of a group of friends and the other is a picture of flowers blossoming. I choose to work with both images because each show togetherness. Helen Keller said “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”. Friends that grow together and show love to one another, blossom together. Sometimes we think being alone helps but it doesn’t. Well yes, most at times we all need sometime alone. But then again being around true and trusted friends can very much help. Having people to talk to, share issues with, good and bad memories are really the best. Ever seen or heard of this movie ‘The sisterhood of the traveling pants’? if not I urge you to try and see that. Its a movie that shows the real definition of togetherness as friends. I also chose to use the flowers because a flower cannot blossom without sunshine and man cannot live without love. Before a flower becomes a flower, there is happiness that is held in the seed And when it becomes a flower the happiness is shared. You will never find a single flower grow in a tree. They always come in numbers and blossom together.
Okay back to my task. So the text overlay; the text overlay is similar to double exposure. In text overlay it is basically placing images in text. And also it is done with the help of the layer blending and clipping masks. Here is my poster showing the text overlay.
“The Game Is The Game”. I bet you’re wondering what I mean by this. Game doesn’t necessarily mean an activity one engages in for fun. When you say Game it can also mean the eagerness or willingness to do something new or challenging or perhaps better yourself in doing something you’re doing already. In here, I used a picture of someone trying to reach for a light bulb that is sparkling. If you look very closely to the A and M in the first Game you will see a part of the light bulb and if you also look closely to the S and G of the last Game you will see someone trying to reach for the bulb. The is always light at the end of the tunnel. Never give up in life or never give up in something you do or love. You should always work harder in achieving whatever you desire or aim at extremely improving on something you’re doing already.
